Notes from Home....Day Eleven

So here I am, sitting at the computer. At least my parents have one, so I can chat with my husband, D, and my friend Michelle. You know, keep up with what's going on at home.

Also helps for keeping up with my blog reading, and checking out the yarn sales at Elann.

I haven't done as much knitting as I thought I would...I've been busy doing other stuff...oh well, once we get back to our normal lives, there's time for finishing that sweater of O's. I've done about three inches on the sleeve. It's going fast, because it's in the round.

Oh yeah, and as a side note...it always amuses me how much I actually look like the avatar I created of myself.

It's been a long week...

...but we've finally made it to our final destination. So after leaving our home, we drove to Banff, Alberta, for my friend Laurie's wedding. We met in Ms. Beamish's grade 10 English class, and then went on to go to University together. So, needless to say, we've known each other for a while. The wedding was absolutely beautiful...an outdoor ceremony at an abandoned church site. It was a challenge to cling to the hillside in 3 1/2" heels, but it was worth it. On the Sunday, after we went to check out Laurie and Ed's fantabulous new house, we went to Red Deer until Wednesday, and then drove to Saskatoon, stayed overnight, and left Thursday for my parents' place, in Melville.

Ah...Melville....what can I say about it..hmm...have to think about that for a while, but when I was talking to Laurie at her place on Sunday, and she was getting the lowdown on our vacation plans, she asked,"So, how long are you going to be in the 'Ville?"

"Two weeks."

"Two weeks??!?"

She had nothing else to say. She was laughing too much.

Don't get me wrong, we really had a great time growing up there, but as soon as we graduated, there was no way that we'd stay. It's a very small town, and it gets a little bit smaller every time I visit.

I brought along O's coral cardi, and the plan is to finish it while we're here. I just have the sleeves left to do, and the bindings around the edges. No pics for a while...it's just O and I here, and D took the camera with him, because he's at his nephew's baptism this weekend.

It was down to the wire...

But I finished my jacket, a pair of pants, and O's dress...sorry, no pics...the camera's packed. We leave tomorrow, and I won't be able to post anything until probably next Friday...I'll have a lot of reading to do to catch up...

T-minus six days and counting...

So, every time we go on a vacation, I have this brainy idea that I need a new outfit. And I must make said outfit. I usually start a week before our vacation starts, (as in pack up the car and drive away), but this time, I was smart. I started waaaaay in advance, so I'm not furiously working up until the last minute. It's really paid off....because LOOK! O's dress! Some handsewing is the only thing left!

And my jacket is progressing nicely...just have the sleeves to set in, and the belt to put on...
Jacket, inside view.
I'm so happy with my progress. I'm working a bit slower than I usually do when I'm in a time crunch, but I'm taking less time in reality, because I'm making less mistakes. I've only had to rip out one seam...which is really good, because it's the re-doing that takes so long, I find...
